Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

About

My commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion is rooted in lived experience and sustained through my work as a public health leader. Growing up in rural North Dakota, I saw firsthand the consequences of limited access to health care and the devastating impact of undiagnosed chronic conditions in underserved communities. These experiences continue to strengthen my commitment to ensuring that every person, regardless of income, geography, or cultural background, has a fair and just opportunity to achieve health.

In my role as Public Health Director, I have led equity-focused initiatives that put these values into practice. From building community partnerships to expand vaccination access for individuals experiencing homelessness, to leading the development of a community solution for individuals facing behavioral health crises, addiction, and housing instability, my focus has been on breaking down barriers and creating compassionate, community-driven solutions.

I also strive to cultivate inclusion within the workplace by promoting culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices and mentoring future public health leaders to consider equity in every decision. For me, JEDI principles are not separate from public health, they are the foundation for building resilient, just, and thriving communities.
